Chicago Tourist Season

Allow me to preface this with the fact that I understand tourism is a vital part of Chicago’s status as a major metropolitan area and a world class city (those qualities are one of the many reasons I chose to attend college in the city), filled with opportunity.

But I’m sorry, tourists can be annoying.

No offense to any Chicago tourists. I was a tourist in Rome. Until I apparently was promoted to “visitor,” along with the rest of my study abroad group, by one of our Italian professors. I’ve even played tourist in Chicago, and I’ve visited plenty of other U.S. cities.

But please pick up your feet and don’t crowd walkways! Yes, you’re on vacation, but some of us are trying to get to their internship on time and are already fed up with CTA delays due to expansion. Thanks :)

I could go on for days. Crowded trains, congested shopping areas. None of it is as bad as slow walking.

Welcome to Chicago, enjoy your stay, but please pick up your feet. Especially during rush hour.
